When most people hear about the concept of attachment, they typically have one of two associations. Some people, especially those who have studied psychology, immediately think of childhood attachment theory. Some people have very negative associations with attachment in adulthood, often flashing back to concepts like co-dependency in families and marriage and feedback to be as independent as possible, rather than attached to a spouse.
